Community Guidelines

Welcome to Rutandaro — a place for people to come together to share, engage, network, and connect with Africa and with one another.

These guidelines describe the spirit of our community and what we expect from everyone who takes part. They are not a list of loopholes to work around — they are an invitation to build something good together.

What Rutandaro stands for

Rutandaro is built on two principles, drawn from the heart of African identity and history:

Everyone is welcome here. You do not have to share any particular faith or background to belong on Rutandaro. We simply ask that everyone engage in the spirit of these two principles — respect, truth, unity, love, and peace — in how they treat one another and what they share.

Public and private sharing

On Rutandaro, you choose how far your content travels:

• Private posts(the default) are shared with the people you're connected to. This is your space to share more freely with your community.
• Public postsare visible to anyone, including visitors who aren't logged in, and may appear in search engines. Because public content is Rutandaro's face to the world, we ask that it especially reflects the values above — content that uplifts, unites, and represents Africa and its people well.

Whichever you choose, the core standards below apply everywhere on the platform.

What we encourage

We'd love Rutandaro to be full of content that:

• Uplifts Africa and its people — stories of hope, achievement, resilience, and possibility.
• Shares our history, culture, and identity — the heritage, traditions, languages, and stories that embody unity, love, and who we are.
• Celebrates our cultures and cuisines — the food, art, music, customs, and wisdom of the continent and its diaspora.
• Explores health and wellbeing traditions — knowledge shared responsibly and honestly.
• Discusses real issues constructively — current situations, challenges, and questions facing our communities and nations are welcome, when the aim is understanding, truth, and positive outcomes rather than division.
• Builds connection — conversations, networking, and relationships grounded in respect.

You don't have to avoid hard subjects. You're asked to approach them in a spirit of truth, respect, and hope.

What isn't allowed

To keep Rutandaro a place of respect and dignity, the following are not permitted anywhere on the platform:

Content that harms the community's spirit:

• Content whose purpose is to incite division, hatred, or hostility between groups — whether by tribe, ethnicity, nationality, religion, or any other line. Constructive discussion is welcome; sowing division is not.
• Disrespect toward others' faith, dignity, or humanity — including mockery, contempt, or dehumanising language.
• Harassment or bullying of any person.

Inappropriate or explicit material:

• Nudity or sexually explicit content. All posts must be decent.
• Content that is gratuitously violent, graphic, or disturbing.
• Content promoting or glamorising harm, exploitation, or dangerous practices.

Universal prohibitions (never permitted, no exceptions):

• Anything illegal, or that facilitates illegal activity.
• Child sexual abuse material or any content that sexualises, endangers, or exploits minors — zero tolerance.
• Threats or incitement to violence against any person or group.
• Hate speech — attacks on people based on ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, disability, or similar.
• Doxxing— sharing someone's private information without consent.
• Spam, scams, or deceptive schemes.
• Impersonation of another person or organisation.
• Infringement of others' intellectual property or privacy.

Discussing difficult and current topics

Rutandaro is not afraid of real conversations. You can discuss the situations facing countries, communities, and the continent — including hard ones. We only ask that you do so:

• Truthfully— share honestly, don't spread what you know to be false.
• Constructively — aim at understanding and positive outcomes, not at tearing people or groups apart.
• Respectfully — you can disagree, even strongly, without contempt or hatred.

The line isn't the topic — it's the spirit. A hard truth shared to help is welcome. The same words shared to divide or demean are not.

How we enforce these guidelines

• We may remove content that breaches these guidelines, and we may limit, suspend, or remove accounts that repeatedly or seriously do so.
• Post authors can remove comments on their own posts.
• We aim to apply these guidelines in the spiritin which they're written — with fairness, care, and a preference for understanding — not as a game of technicalities.

Growing together

Rutandaro is young, and these guidelines will grow with us as our community grows. What won't change is the heart of them: respect for God, and love and unity among one another. If you share that spirit, you belong here.
